What is the Germany Opportunity Card?

A residence permit introduced in June 2024 that lets skilled workers from outside the EU come to Germany for up to one year to look for a job.

How many points do I need?

At least 6 points, plus the basic requirements: a recognised qualification, German A1 or English B2, and proof of funds. With full recognition, you don't need points.

Can I work while I search?

Yes. You can work part-time up to 20 hours a week and do trial jobs of up to two weeks with a potential employer.

How much money do I need to show?

You must show you can cover living costs, usually through a blocked account. The monthly amount is set by the German government and updated each year; your counsellor will confirm the current figure.

What happens when I find a job?

If the job matches your qualification, you can switch to a skilled worker visa or EU Blue Card in Germany without leaving.

What does your service cost?

The €75 visa fee and blocked account are paid separately. Every fee, inclusion and refund term is written into your service agreement before you pay.
